This is an image of hydrate formation on a methylammonium lead halide perovskite film, a material used for low-cost, high-efficiency photovoltaics. This kind of perovskite is very sensitive to moisture, especially when the films are unconverted, and this image shows a
particularly beautiful example of what happens if the film is left in too humid an environment.
