- Abstract
- Surprised by what you’re looking at? Your eyes aren’t deceiving you. This really is a tobacco plant. More specifically, it is Nicotiana tabacum L. cv Petit Havana. Tobacco has a long, tainted history. But as you see before you, when flowering, the plant itself is quite beautiful. Petit Havana was one type of tobacco plant that we used in our research. They were grown in eight different plots. Half of the plots had plants being grown under elevated levels of CO2. While the other plots had plants grown in ambient levels of CO2. The plants were also raised under increased and normal nitrogen conditions. This was done in order to assess the carbon storage capacity. Overall, evaluating this data helps us better understand the effects of climate change on biological processes in plants.
