- Abstract
- In reaction to real-world problems of overfishing and fishing limits, there is interest in the diverse effects in a school of fish's behavior when detrimental factors are present. Researchers have been delving into the feeding behavior and social interaction of fish in the presence of predators before and after witnessing half the population being preyed upon. Another manifestation of detrimental affects lies in the inter-relationships of the school of fish itself. It has been recently studied how aggressiveness towards conspecifics shifts as the population becomes scarce. Our own research is focused on modeling these behaviours using Matlab simulations and game theory and presenting our findings in a comprehensible and educational way. Using experimental data we have collected statistics on how fish tend to behave based on our game theoretical model. Before presenting these findings to the users in a visual way, we ask them to predict the outcome of the fish interactions. We then show what actually happens along with the calculated probabilities.
