- Abstract
- A model capable of simulating the preformance of room air conditioners was developed. The new model uses a Newton-Raphson solution scheme framework in which the equations are uncoupled from the solution algorithm. The design of the model, and the techniques used for improving its performance are presented. The initial implementation of the model was accomplished using the equations from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory heat pump model as modified for room air conditioners. Results were compared with preliminary data obtained from a room air conditioner test facility and key equations were improved. The actual Fortran code is presented in the Appendix along with a detailed explanation of the equations used.
