- Abstract
- "Travel has always been a way to escape our day-to-day lives and experience something new and different. As the at-home realities evolve, the way we travel changes. Although the travel industry is slowly catching up to travelers' changing needs, individuals are increasingly shaping the industry and bringing to the forefront what matters to them most: the experience achieved through the journey. Nowadays digital technology and social media enable us to construct our ""travel memories"" instantly and broadcast them globally or archive them forever: how does this alter our travel-narratives and memories? This project mainly focuses on the travel experience in our modern time, specifically to enrich and enhance travelers' authentic travel memories. As we assign memory to space, we redefine that place. As we review experience, we discover ourselves. Through a human centered design approach, I designed a mobile application to promote the joy of immersing oneself in different lifestyles and to bring back the unexpected, touching moments of journeys in the past. This design provides travelers a unique way to discover a place and to recall memories."
