The purpose of our research is to identify whether sleep, or lack thereof, affects students’ academic performance. In addition, we broaden the research question to determine the biggest contributor to GPA performance if it is not lack of sleep. Throughout our research, we used various methods such as interviews, focus groups and online surveys to prove or disprove our hypotheses. By using two control focus groups (those that get 7-9 hours of sleep on average) and two variable focus groups, (students who get less than 7 hours of sleep on average) we were able to successfully compare the data to determine if our hypotheses were correct. Through our research we were able to discover many variables that truly affects students’ academic performance.
