Abstract
This research paper focuses on finding out how the election and presidential candidate such as Donald Trump who openly stereotypes minorities, makes racist statements and addresses Islamophobia reflect and affect students on campus. It also addresses how terrorism conducted by ISIS influence the way students at UIUC view Muslims and whether or not students associate terrorism with Muslims in general. In order to learn how people’s view on Islam and Muslims have shifted since the emergence and the terrorist activities of ISIS became prominent, I interviewed five Muslim students and five non-Muslim students on campus. My research project also intended to discover how the upcoming election plays the role of affecting students’ perspectives.
