Abstract
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY•Sampled 14 sites in total: 9 sites on 4 streams within the Des Plaines River basin, 4 sites on Squaw Creek (Fox River basin), and 1 site on the Des Plaines (Illinois River basin)•Spent 27 person-hours sampling with an average of 2.4 mussels collected per hour•Recorded the following species:▷ Giant Floater, Pyganodon grandis (n=31, 47%), most common▷ Lilliput, Toxolasma parvum (n=23, 35%)▷ White Heelsplitter, Lasmigona complanata (n=7, 11%)▷ Fatmucket, Lampsilis siliquoidea (n=5, 8%)•Two live individuals and one relict shell of the exotic Zebra Mussel (Dreissena polymorpha) were found in Buffalo Creek and the Des Plaines River at Route 120, respectively•Fresh dead individuals of the exotic Chinese Mystery Snail (Cipangopaludina chinensis) were present at Countryside Lake
