- Abstract
- Smartphone has changed the way of sharing the moment. However, interaction through the touchscreen as a form of text, sound, video, and photo, is still not enough to fully reflect our emotions. Because of the limits of touchscreen, we find ourselves restricted to rely only on visual and auditory information rather than play with them using our five senses. My research aims to extend the way of interactions beyond the two-dimensional cold screen by developing a robot as an interactive soft interface. In order to build the interface to be like a real living creature, silicone is applied for whole body of the robot by 3D printing and casting, which brings flexibility and soft texture. It has two arms and legs attached to the body frame having a smartphone inside. The presented image represents one of the arms which can react to users moods and gestures. During video call or text messaging with friends, the robot will express various motions, colors, and temperature depending on friends emotions so that promotes emotional and tactile interaction in 3-D space. This research will not only bridge human and human but also present a new perspective of interactions between human and robot.
