Abstract
In the State of Illinois, researchers and non-profit organizations are actively studying the potential for naturalization as well as the physical, biological, and economic impacts of different naturalization scenarios along the Illinois River floodplain and backwater areas. This paper adds to the ongoing research by introducing a GIS-based scenario tool that was developed to examine and assess changes in expected property tax revenue for local communities under alternative naturalization proposals along the La Grange Reach of the Illinois River floodplain.
