Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate how current planning efforts and land use regulations in the jurisdictions bordering Lake Michigan preserve, protect and restore the region's land and water resources. To facilitate this goal, the study evaluates the formal plans and ordinances created by county and municipal governments in the nearshore area of the Lake. It indicates what types of plans and regulations communities have adopted, and documents the thoroughness of various environmental elements covered.
