Abstract
In a greenhouse study, the risk of injury from seed-placed fertilizers increased when soil temperatures increased from 61 to 67$\sp\circ$F. Wetting the root zone to field capacity within 48 hours after planting enhanced the effectiveness of seed-placed fertilizers by increasing early plant growth and reducing the potential for injury.
