Abstract
The unique contributions of this work are in the areas of modeling of the reuse decision problem and the simulation results acquired using the model, as described above. It is envisioned that these contributions will help optimize decision making regarding product reuse. It will help bring manufacturers considering product reuse a step closer to implementation. The mathematical constructs of effective age and variability presented in the work should encourage use of normative and mathematically rigorous techniques in modeling of parameters. Analysis of the results will facilitate redesign endeavors so that manufacturers are aware of where exactly to focus their efforts (which components, operations).
