Abstract
In this thesis, we examine a conjecture of N. Boston which says that given an odd irreducible mod p Galois representation, there exist lifts which behave according to prescribed behavior when restricted to inertia subgroups at certain rational primes. We prove that the conjecture holds when a cohomological criterion is imposed on the mod p representation. We then show that the criterion holds for examples of interest to number theorists.
