Abstract
This study discusses Eben's use of form, thematic material and melody, text/music relationships, rhythm, and harmony specifically as illustrated in seven choral works. A separate section in each chapter is devoted to the influence of plainchant if the selected work is chant-derived. The conclusion evaluates the constancy and changes of Eben's compositional practices and assesses the degree to which his style changed over time.
