Abstract
"The portraits revealed four significant conclusions: (1) there were common elements in the participants, desire and need of ""belonging"" to an artistic community that could nurture their art making; (2) all participants' show personal preference toward self-initiated, self-actualized artistic behavior; (3) all show a strong ability to be wide-awake and act upon in their process of finding their personal artistic vein; (4) the issues of culture, gender and identity were evident in each case and across cases."
