Abstract
"Beginning from 1985, the manufactured exports of Thailand have been the main reason for the export sector as a whole to grow very quickly. By calculating the ""revealed"" comparative advantage index (RCA) introduced by Balassa in 1965, RCAs of manufacturing indicate that mostly labor-intensive manufactured products have dominated the manufactured exports of Thailand. Although there was a tendency that the pattern of comparative advantage would shift towards technology-intensive products, the evidence was still unclear. The RCA analysis also supports the notion that manufacturing has become diversified over time."
