Abstract
The metal sulfide cluster, [(cymene)2Ru3S 2(NCMe)3]2+, reacts with various equivalents of sulfide to give rise to cluster-of-clusters i.e. [(cymene)4Ru 5S4]2+ and [(cymene)6Ru9S 8]2+. The new valence isomer of the [(cymene)4Ru 4S3]2+ was characterized and shown to convert to the black Roussin motif. Finally, this work also demonstrates the potential utility of Ru-S clusters as catalysts for hydrogen production.
