Abstract
Reaction of [N(n-Bu)4][M(N)Me4] with Me3SiOSO2CF3 yielded the neutral complexes Os(NSiMe3)Me4 and Ru(NSiMe3)Me4. These complexes reacted with water to generate Me3SiOH, CH 4, (Me3Si)2O and insoluble metal-containing species. Both reacted with carbon monoxide to form acetone derived from the alkyl ligands. Neither complex reacted with styrene. Trialkyl- and triarylphosphines trapped decomposition products and formed new compounds including Os(N)(PPh3 )Me3 and Os(N)(PMe3)Me3. Mixtures of Os(NSiMe3)Me4, styrene, and N-tosyliminophenyliodinane produced some nitrogen transfer product, cyclo-(tosyl)NCH 2CHPh.
