Abstract
The resulting models: (1) Consider platoon duration, flow rate and/or number of vehicles in platoon, (2) Are sensitive to traffic volume inside platoon, and (3) because a distinct delay model was deduced for each arrival type, the need for applying delay adjustment factors was eliminated. Furthermore, the input parameters required to use the proposed models are the same as those required by the HCM. Comparison of field data with the results from the proposed models as well as the HCM showed that the new models predict the delay more precisely.
