Abstract
The performance of the LQG- and H2-based controllers was less than satisfactory, in the sense that the performance was not as good for the evaluation model as it was for the design model. The controller designed with mu-tools, on the other hand, was robust, and the resulting evaluation criteria were better than those of the LQG and H2 designs. A stiffness perturbation analysis was also completed. The time and frequency responses showed no signs of instability for perturbations of +/-7%. Therefore, it was concluded that the mu-tools-based controller would perform well.
