Abstract
The detection of protein accumulation in transgenic plants carrying the full-length ApMV-CP and conferring resistance to ApMV suggested that transgenic coat protein accumulation was involved in eliciting the ApMV resistance response. Protein accumulation of lower-truncated ApMV-CP did not induce resistance against ApMV inoculation, thus suggesting that accumulation of the wild type protein structure was responsible for viral resistance.
