Abstract
Based on what we have learned from Fe3O4/MS model system, we have considered application in technologically important systems such as heterostructures that exhibit visible light photocatalysis. Using the combination of NC heterostructures of materials with type II band offset and multiple exciton generation, TiO2/CdS and TiO2/PbS NC heterostructures have been synthesized as potential photocatalysts. While there is a need for improvement in yield and controlling of geometries by modifying synthetic method, new paradigm in designing photocatalysts may be envisioned with these materials.
