Abstract
These results thus provide further support to the domain-specific view of human cognition, which states that people tend to interpret the world within a few core domains, for example, the domains of psychological and biological knowledge. In addition, these results are in line with evidence suggesting that young children distinguish animate from inanimate objects and reason about animate objects in terms of their psychological and biological properties. Future research can further examine how infants' concept of self-propelled objects relates to young children's concept of animate entities, which would shed light on the origin and development of knowledge about different ontological object kinds.
