Abstract
GirlZone represents an innovative site in that it is an explicitly feminist, community-based organization devoted to situated learning and social change. As a site of situated learning, GirlZone highlights how expanded definitions of literate activities (including graphics and radio production) can reflect, and be reflected by, the development of subject positions and the discourses within this institution. In addition, GirlZone provides a case study for examining how these expanded definitions of literate activities affect (or not) the sustainability of a site devoted to structural change implemented on an individual level.
