Abstract
"This study chronicled and examined the educational patterns of African-American professionals, entertainers, political leaders/activists and athletes born in the twentieth century in order to determine the familia, social and cultural contexts of African-American educational values and beliefs. The main research question was: ""What are the educational values, beliefs and experiences of African-Americans and how are these values, beliefs and experiences portrayed in twentieth century African-American autobiography?"" The various African-American autobiographies were used as a lens to examine and recount the individual's educational values, beliefs and experiences along with their various accomplishments, their family's educational values and beliefs, their community's educational values and beliefs, and the educational values and beliefs of the larger African-American society."
