Abstract
"This study shows how inequities can take place in otherwise-exemplary classrooms; how well-meaning Whites can be oblivious to injustice; and how school culture mitigates against White teachers being able to enact anti-racist pedagogy. It shows how Louisa was impacted by contexts including: a multiculturally-oriented teacher education program; interactions with ""typical"" mentors and colleagues; a school with few Black teachers; and a school district whose policies were encoded with institutional racism."
