Abstract
During the M&A process, the HRD function changed to meet the needs of employees. In reference to roles, HRD professionals mostly performed in the supportive, partner and strategic roles. The 'leader' role was the least mention. Suggestions for enhancing the role of HRD professionals in future M&As were linked to the management of change, training, and organizational culture. The study findings can be used to enhance or improve HRD practice and extend research that relates to HRD and M&As.
