Abstract
This dissertation explores J. S. Bach's Six Brandenburg Concertos in the light of a
Bildprogrammatik, governed by the same principles that defined arrangements of Baroque art and
sculpture, and with the royal hunt as its central motive, carrying the themes of victory, glory, and
immortality.
