Abstract
The Pusilipo by Cristobal Suarez de Figueroa had never been studied, nor edited critically, since it was published in 1629.
The purpose of this dissertation is to offer my own edition of the Pusilipo, which is the first modern attempt to edit the text in a modern form. Completing the edition is the critical apparatus, consisting of thorough textual and explanatory notes, and a up to date bibliography.
To obtain this result the dissertation is in two parts. Part one consists of an introduction with an overview of the author's life and works, followed by a discussion of the style, a description of the environment in which he wrote, a synopsis of the subject, a bibliography about the author and a general bibliography. Part two is a critical edition of the Pusilipo and includes textual and explanatory footnotes.
Thus, my dissertation seeks to fill a gap in the Spanish Golden Age Literature, and restore the figure of the author, neglected for so many years, to his rightful place.
