Abstract

A pile of activity booklets, worksheets, and plush toys is what you see, not an uncommon sight as to what is seen in a classroom. In an elementary school setting, teachers are constantly trying to approach teaching in fun and educative ways. My research focuses on promoting and increasing the exposure of fruits and vegetables in an elementary school. One of the ways we try to do this is by providing in-class activities that tie in with the Common Core Standards; we are giving teachers an outlet to have fun activities within the classroom that teach about health. These interactive activities help stimulate these children into applying what they learn about nutrition into their food choices to establish healthier behaviors. A basket of gifts showing that learning can be both healthy and fun!
