Abstract
A random sample of 3,000 hunters was selected from the 2010 Illinois Habitat Stampand hunting license purchasers. Of the sample of 3,000 hunters, 2,896 questionnaires were deliverable. We received 1,628 (56%) returned questionnaires, 1,619 were usable. License salesdecreased 2.2% from 2009 (288,472) to the 2010 season (282,016).From 2009-2010 to 2010-2011 seasons, harvests for 2 game species increased (snipe and coyote), decreased for 10 game species (rabbit, quail, dove, crow, groundhog, fox squirrel, gray squirrel, raccoon, red fox, and opossum), did not change for 1 game species (pheasants), and could not be calculated for 4 game species (gray partridge, woodcock, rail, and gray fox). Hunters were also queried about their use of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) website and how they would like to receive information from IDNR in the future.
