Abstract
These five case studies are just one part of a larger publication-the Great Lakes Urban Innovations Guidebook-commissioned by Great Lakes Urban Exchange (GLUE)-to highlight the innovative approaches of groups in Great Lakes and draw policy implications from the case studies. The following five case studies examine new approaches to old problems, namely: food security, vacancy, abandonment, foreclosure, contamination, lack of community engagement, municipal competition, and the political challenges that accompany each of them.
