Abstract

Freeport (Stephenson County) has a temperate continental climate, dominated by maritime tropical air from the Gulf of Mexico from about May through early October. Gulf air generally supports relative humidities of about 60% during the day and 85% at night. During these months, there are occasional, interruptions of drier, cooler air from the Pacific Ocean, that typically last for a few days, and reduce daytime temperatures into the 60s or 70s.
