Non-governmental organizations have long been important non-state
actors in the process of sustainable development. Their publications often fall under the rubric of “grey” literature - that which is not published through standard channels. This paper explores the types of information produced by these civil society organizations, the dissemination of this information, and the change in the use of this information in the scholarly research that is being done to support sustainable development.
