Abstract
This is a report of a study made to determine the in-place cost of a new exterior wall material--lightweight concrete panels--and to compare it with frame wall construction. The study was conducted by the Small Homes Council, University of Illinois, in cooperation with the Lumber Dealers Research Council. The report presents the in-place wall costs of three houses constructed simultaneously during 1950-51. The analysis of the time-study data and the material records indicates that the new material offers substantial man-hour savings; however, this saving is offset by the higher material cost.
