- Abstract
- An increasing proportion of the low-cost housing market is being served by the mobile home industry; in fact, it is stated that 1 in 3 housing units costing less than $10,000 is a mobile home. The impact of the industry is further amplified by the statement that of all single-family housing units produced in 1965, 1 in 6 was a mobile home. With this information in mind, the lumber dealers, traditional material suppliers and, to some extent, builders of single-family housing in the United States, became concerned as to whether it would be feasible and advisable for them to enter into the manufacture and distribution of mobile homes. The objective of this study is to answer that question.
