Abstract
A key component of my research is exploring service delivery complications for very young children with disabilities and their families who are living in urban poverty. My work is multi-modal by design, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data sources. I also utilize multiple modes to present the data; photography and poetry. Direct quotes from the thematic qualitative data were arranged to create a series data poems. Photographs accompany each data poem. The Intricacies of Scary Zip Codes (Poem 1) The moms will tell. Its gang violence. Its unsafe neighborhoods. They just hide themselves inside, the drapes don't open. I know this street and this street. But I'm not going down that street. I just hope for the best. I don't carry a purse. I don't wear jewelry. As a younger girl, a female, I just don't feel safe. I know this street and this street. But I'm not going down that street. I just hope for the best. Knowing what to do.Trusting your gut. But then knowing when to not go. I know this street and this street. But I'm not going down that street. I just hope for the best.
