I created this virtual image to represent the process through which I make ferroelectric thin films in Lane Martin's Research group. The blueish laser beam pulses through a window in the back of this chamber, vaporizes the surface of a target (which can just barely be seen in the image) and ejects a plume of glowing plasma. This plasma is then deposited on a special crystal set up across the chamber.
