- Abstract
- Ever wonder how great it would be if you can make a cartoon from everyday images? Image smoothing focusing on structure extraction aims to smooth out the texture of a given image while keeping the main structure. The extracted image structure can facilitate many interesting computational photography applications, including detail enhancement, high dynamic range imaging, and non-photorealistic rendering. The image submitted is a combination of an original photo of a mosaic wall on the top and the smoothed image by applying the structure extraction method. The main difficulty here is to separate the periodic textures (e.g., tiles) from the actual image content.
