Abstract
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) Library, working in conjunction with the campus Office of Sponsored Programs and Research, has conducted an analysis of Data Management Plans (DMPs) in UIUC National Science Foundation (NSF) grant proposals submitted between July 2011 and May 2013. The analysis allowed us to identify campus grant applicant’s proposed DMP data storage venues and data reuse mechanisms, and provided us with data on the use of DMP templates developed by the UIUC Library and nationally. This detailed analysis has provided us with input for the development of the campus-wide infrastructure for researcher data management and federal agency compliance. The analysis also looked for any differences in the proposed data storage and re-use categories between the funded and unfunded grants. A chi-square statistical analysis was performed over the funded vs. unfunded proposals. Additional data will be presented on high-risk storage solutions, domain repositories, and the use of the Library’s institutional repository for dynamic datasets.
