This personal account recalls the feelings and emotions of an 18-year-old from Iowa dealing with the horrors of war. He discusses his experience as a clerk in London during WWII dealing with buzz bombs, when he captured German officers, and as he helped emancipate a prison camp. He discusses why he shortened his name from Shimatowsky to Shimm.
