Abstract
In current microplasma system, flow control of ozone is very limited, and most devices utilize the external devices to make it flow. A plasma actuator can be used as a flow control device. It consists of two electrodes (Al) that are located asymmetric and separated by a dielectric material (Al2O3) which forms asymmetric dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) structure. Supplying 20 kHz AC voltage to electrodes causes the air in their vicinity to ionize, and the electric field gradient produced by two asymmetric electrodes results in a body force vector acting on the external flow.
At the Laboratory of Optical Physics and Engineering, application of a plasma actuator to the ozone generator, a micro channels DBD structure using a fan to flow the ozone has been discussed. Optimizing the external flow generated by a plasma actuator can change various parameters of the current ozone generator. Finding out its efficiency by comparing the ozone flow rate between these two devices will be the key point.
Additionally, since there are various ways to realize a plasma actuator, simplifying the fabrication and structure of this device using aluminum is one part of this research as well because it can be used in various applications which use the plasma actuator.
