Abstract
The goal of this project is to demonstrate that the Kohonen self-organizing map is a physiologically plausible model, by constructing it from the Hodgkin-Huxley neuron model and the Spike Timing-Dependent Plasticity model. The Kohonen self-organizing map is a popular concept in the field of neural network modeling. Yet not much effort has been made to show its credibility. In this project, a key feature of the Kohonen self-organizing map, namely the neighborhood function, is achieved in a neural network simulation with physiologically plausible models, thus demonstrating the plausibility of the Kohonen self-organizing map
