Davis, Emeritus Professor of History at SSU/UIS, retired after 39 years of teaching and at Sangamon State University and its succesor, University of Illinois at Springfield. He was hired in 1970 as a charter member of the SSU faculty, some of whom he describes as “de-frocked priests” and “refugees from the campus battles of the 1960s.” Davis started the Oral History Office at SSU in 1971 as a means to collect and preserve historical evidence of groups such as women, minorities, and the poor. Those oral histories remain as part of the Special Collections at the UIS Archives in Brookens Library. Interview by Justin Law, 2009. 360 min., 95 pp.
