Abstract
People have emotion. Depending on the emotions, we are happy, delighted, sad, angry. In our body there are many different substrates which help to promote the emotions. One of the substrates is dopamine which is one of the neurotransmitters. It translates the signal which is related to happiness or pleasure in our body. If the body cannot make dopamine well, we can have Parkinson's disease. However, we also can have schizophrenia if there is too much dopamine. So controling the substrates is very important in our body. We injected gene encoding opsin which is reacted by light. When it is injected in the brain, and light is emitted, it stimulates the neuron near the injected area. Our purpose in this project is controlling a freely moving animal by using an LED device which is very small and injectable, and gives light to the dopamine-related spot for which already gene encoding opsin was injected. Thus, our device is a very small micro scale PET needle which has a Light Emitting Diode (LED). This is small but has good light emitting ability. Also, since it is very small, it does not cause too much stress to the mouse when it is injected.
