Abstract
The focus of this research project was to further develop a new computer simulation tool for analyzing reliability of electrical energy systems. The original tool was implemented in MATLAB/PLECS and incorporated the concept of fault coverage in calculating circuit reliability. This research improves the existing algorithms to reduce simulation time, increase maximum allowed circuit size and improve accuracy. Additional work was done to allow the user to set failure limits on individual components and to detect failures that will degrade circuit performance but not cause any circuit limits to be exceeded.
