A senior thesis analyzing how modern female Chinese women gain social power through three linguistic strategies: selective use and disuse of emerging Beijing dialectal features, linguistic politeness considered from both Confucianism and Brown and Levinson politeness theory, and also sajiao, a form of childish speech.
