Abstract
"The challenges and opportunities facing special libraries of all types in
our ""republic of technology"" are diverse and daunting. The evolving
emergency preparedness and response missions, programs, and projects
needed include the creation of a capability for providing geographic oriented
information in a number of critical application areas. This
timely and trenchant topic deserves immediate attention by the cognizant
leadership of those charged with library and information services."
