Ki Dong Lee grew up in Korea and came to UIUC in 1971 as a graduate student. He earned his PhD degree in 1976 and returned to the campus in 1985 as a professor. During his tenure at U of I, he has witnessed the changes in experience of the Asian community and its assimilation onto campus. After retiring in 2011, he continues to influence the people around him.

This collection examines ways in which the U.S. university and the American college experience are affected by diversity, and difference. In particular, these student projects examine experiences of diversity on campus, including important contemporary social, cultural, and political debates on equity and access to university resources.
This collection examines the influence of globalization on the university and the university's place in a burgeoning world market for higher education.
